HOW TO STRENGTHEN YOUR MEMBERSHIP

Building your club by strengthening its membership and attracting new members is critical to its success.  Rotary International has developed a wide range of resources to help clubs grow and thrive.  Progressive clubs rely on many concurrent strategies to remain vital and build membership. Below are some of the many resources and strategies you can use to strengthen your club.

Assess Your Club

Whether your club is strong or struggling, taking the time to evaluate what you’re doing is a worthwhile endeavor.

  • Use this guide to help grow and diversify your club’s membership, and make the best use of your members’ expertise and skills..
  • Identify your club's problem areas and make changes to help it stay relevant for members and the community.
  • Take steps to understand why members leave your club.  These insights can be revealing and help address serious issues.

Engage Current Members

Rotarians work hard to deliver an experience that will keep members excited about Rotary. Here are some strategies you can use:

  • Ask members for their feedback using the Member Satisfaction Survey.
  • Take this Learning Center course to develop strategies for engaging people at all stages of membership.
  • Listen to what works at other clubs throughout the world.
  • Use video resources from recent Rotary events to supplement your club meetings.
  • Encourage members to get involved in their club, community, and the Rotary world for a more meaningful experience.
  • Connect members with opportunities to develop their professional skills and expand their networks.
  • Recognize member's accomplishments, dedication and service to their club and community.
  • Encourage members to take on leadership roles.
  • Keep members involved in club projects and activities.
  • Communicate your club's activities and priorities at meetings and through other channels of communication (monthly email updates, Facebook, Instagram).

Develop & Sustain a Fun, Vibrant Club

You club members have many options to fill their day and use their time. Take steps to create a club environment that makes Rotary IRRESISTABLE.  Don't leave it to chance.

  • Start your club on a path to vibrancy. Successful clubs engage their members, conduct meaningful projects, and try new ideas.
  • This Learning Center courses will help you learn more about Rotary's DEI statement, what DEI means, and how you can put it into practice to create positive experiences.
  • Learn about different club models that will attract new audiences in your region. All clubs share similar values and a passion for service, but no two clubs are the same because each community has its own unique needs.
  • Develop a long-term strategy for boosting membership.
