
The proposed project concerned saving lives of infants born with congenital heart disease, and not covered by National Health Insurance in Egypt. Rotary Club of El Tahrir (RCT) in Cairo was the project host for the Rotary Global grant with many other Rotary clubs in Egypt. The Rotary Club of Palgrave has supported many international projects. The club provided funds to Guatemala Literacy Project (GLP) and Hippo Water Roller Project in South Africa.
In 2018, Dr. Amal El Sisi, Professor of General Pediatrics and Neonatology at Cairo University Pediatric Hospital and Head of Neonatal Cardiology Unit in Egypt approached RCP International Service Director Dr. Syed Imtiaz Ahmad for RCP to become a partner in a Rotary Global Grant application. The proposed project concerned saving lives of infants born with congenital heart disease, and not covered by National Health Insurance in Egypt. Rotary Club of El Tahrir (RCT) in Cairo was the project host for the Rotary Global grant with many other Rotary clubs in Egypt. The project found international partners that included Rotary Club Weiz, Austria, Tulln Club, Austria, Hazel Grove club, UK, Westmount Rotary Club, QC, Canada, Rotary Club of Palgrave and others. The project was named Heart2Heart - Pediatric Non- Invasive Cardiac Procedures. Funding requested was US$120.000, and it was approved by the Rotary Foundation in 2019. Follow-up global grants were received in 2020 and 2021.
