The project will bore a well, using energy from solar cells to pump the water, raise the water to a tank to provide pressure, clean the water from sediments, bacteria, viruses and harmful minerals. From there the water will be pumped by pipe to a primary school, child care centre and kiosks for pickup by residents.

| Project Description: | Yombra Village is home to 3,000 people who now collect water from ditches and streams that dry up two times per year during the dry seasons. The project will bore a well, using energy from solar cells to pump the water, raise the water to a tank to provide pressure, clean the water from sediments, bacteria, viruses and harmful minerals. From there the water will be pumped by pipe to a primary school, child care centre and kiosks for pickup by residents. People will be able to obtain water from points 10 - 100 meters from their homes. A Safe Water Committee (SWC), chosen by the residents, will oversee the water after completion. People will pay Kenya shillings for their water, with lesser amounts charged by those the SWC deems to be charity cases. Payment will occur through the use of mobile phones. Teachers will use the WASH curriculum in classes about hygiene and sanitation attended by residents. |
