Call for Nominations

Each year our District puts out a call for suggestions for District Governor, this year for the Rotary year to commence July 1, 2015, the selected individual to follow DG Ian Ferguson 2012/13, DGE Mike Gauthier 2013/14 and DGN Patsy Marshall 2014/15.   District 7080 has adopted and follows the nominating committee procedure as set out in Article 13 of the bylaws of Rotary International.  The nominating committee consists of the three most recent Past District Governors, ie.  Chair Bob Palmateer, Bernd Dinnert and Brian Carmichael together with 2 Club Past Presidents appointed by the current District Governor in consultation with the Chair of the Nominating Committee.
A candidate for nomination must be a member, other than an honourary member, in good standing of a club in the District and have been a Rotarian for at least four years at the time of taking office as DGNN. The candidate must have served as President of a Rotary club for a full term.  It is also recommended that the DGNN selected would have served as an Assistant Governor of the District, a District Officer or as a District Committee Chair within the past 3 years. A club may suggest only one of its own members as a candidate for governor-nominee-nominee.

To comply with the minimum 2 months notice requirements of Article 13.020.4 of the bylaws of Rotary International, DG Ian is now calling upon the clubs in the District to submit their suggestions for nominations for governor for the Rotary year 2015/16 to reach the committee not later than November 10, 2012, with interviews to be the following Saturday, November 17th.  Suggestions are to be submitted to:
Chair Bob Palmateer

Please reach out to your Club Past Presidents.  Being the District Governor is a time commitment but is also a rewarding commitment.

The suggestions shall be submitted on the Governor Nominee Data Form, available on the District website, signed by the candidate and accompanied by a resolution adopted at a regular meeting of the club naming the suggested candidate.  The resolution shall be certified by the Club secretary.

Yours in Rotary,
