Protecting our environment has officially become an area of focus for Rotary International. Given RI's commitment to this important goal, District 7080 has taken action. We have established a District Environment Committee (DEC). The inaugural meeting took place on October 28th and established our role and goals. This committee is to be a resource and support to clubs and their Environment Committees. In addition, the DEC will collect and share the success stories and best practices of the individual clubs. A speaker series will be launched and promoted. Two expert speakers have already been booked. Look for more on that in next month's bulletin.

The Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) recently published a good overview of what individual clubs can do to support the environment.  A copy of the guide is located on our district website. Clear here to read or download a copy.

Rotary International has allocated $18 million dollars over the next 5 years to help fund projects related to environmental protection. Applications will be accepted starting in July of 2021.

We are hoping to add members to the committee, so if you have a passion for environment issues and have some time please connect with me, Norma Gamble.
