Support Rotary's commitment to eradicate polio for good 

 
By now most of you must have received news of vaccine derived Polio Virus being detected in our neighbouring state of New York, in addition to new Polio ,wild polio virus cases being reported from the border region of Pakistan with Afghanistan called North Waziristan.
 
Rotarians in our district are responding with renewed vigour and commitment to help prevent and eradicate Polio from the two remaining countries of the world through numerous events being organized by individual clubs and clusters in District 7080 as follows:
 
RC Guelph Trillium have raised $1,350 towards the Polio Fund through the sale of End Polio Now Tulip bulbs, they were also able to donate 450 EPN tulip bulbs to the City of Guelph to be planted at Marianne`s Park, in Guelph ON on Saturday October 15, from 9 am - noon in order to raise awareness.
 
Polio Chair Badar has been invited by Guelph Cluster to join local Rotarians in hosting the End Polio Flag at Guelph city Hall on Oct 19th.
 
RC Burlington North is also doing a flag raising at Burlington City Hall, and District Polio Chair has been invited to speak to club members as a part of their efforts to raise awareness.
 
RC Brampton hosted an End Polio Flag raising event and Luncheon last year, and is exploring the possibility of doing the same this year in partnership with other clubs in the cluster.
 
RC Kitchener, RC Waterloo, RC Orangeville, RC Fergus Elora, RC Shelburne have all extended invited to District Polio Chair as a guest speaker at their club meetings leading up to and after the World Polio Day on Oct 24th.
 
All in all, Rotarians across District 7080 remain committed to supporting Rotary’s pledge to help raise another $150 Million dollars during this fiscal year.  Our District Polio Plus Society has set the goal to double our members from 9 to 18 this fiscal year.
