It is my pleasure to announce that the nominating committee for District Governor has selected Ian Ferguson to be the District Governor for 2012/13 following completion of candidate interviews on December 12th.
 
No club having proposed a challenging candidate by the December 28th deadline, I declare Ian Ferguson, as the candidate of the district nominating committee, as governor nominee to serve as District 7080 Governor in 2012/13.
 
Ian is a a member of the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar.
 
During Ian's Rotary life he has served on the club's board of directors for six years serving as President in 2008-09.  Ian has followed in his father's footsteps.  His father was president of the Grand Falls, New Brunswick Club in the late 1950's.
 
During Ian's year as President, the Oakville Trafalgar club led the D istrict in membership growth.  To recognize that accomplishment Ian was awarded a District Governor's citation along with the Club receiving a Presidential citation.
 
Ian currently serves as the area Foundation coordinator for both the Oakville and North Halton clusters.  He is a member of the district "Visioning team" and has been active on the World Community Service committee.  At the recent District Conference Ian assisted as the master of ceremonies. He has attended the past two International conventions and Rotary Days at the United Nations. 
 
He is a member of the Bequest Society, The Paul Harris Society and is a four time Paul Harris Fellow.
 
Ian resides in Burlington and is the owner operator of Scotchtown Painting, a paint and decorating company operating in the western GTA.
