Vocational Service is the cornerstone of Rotary and was the key to the beginning of the Rotary ethos of service above self. Rotary's founder Paul Harris recognized that people could use their vocations to help others in the community and thus Rotary was formed and has been serving its local and international community for over 100 years.

Vocational Service focuses on:
  • The contribution of your vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community.
  • Adherence to and promotion of the highest ethical standards in all occupations, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors, and the public.
  • The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians.

January is Vocational Service Month. It’s an opportunity to begin year-long vocational service activities, ranging from Rotary discussions to awards to community projects.  To that end, The D7080 Vocational Services Committee has developed a 4-Part Speakers series dedicated to enhancing members understanding of this foundational topic.  The Zoom-based webinars will feature a wide range of speakers including Shekhar Mehta, Immediate Past President of Rotary International.
