District 7080 - Governor's Message
Fellow Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors,

As we embark on Membership and New Club Development month, Rotary’s number one priority is to Grow Rotary and increase membership. Our International President Shekhar Mehta’s goal of increasing our membership to 1.3 million by July 2022. With his call to action of “Each One, Bring One,” he is asking each Rotarian and Rotaractor to introduce a new person into their club, and to focus on Diversity and reaching out to younger people and women.
Rotary International - President's Message
As we focus on membership in Rotary this month, I ask you to help make history this year. For more than 20 years, our membership has stood at 1.2 million. Rotary is a vibrant organization with a 116-year history, members in more than 220 countries and geographic areas, and a rich legacy of work in polio eradication and other humanitarian programs. Rotary has changed so much in our own lives and the lives of others. As we Serve to Change Lives, don’t you think Rotary could have an even greater impact on the world if more people were practicing Service Above Self?

EnvironFocus Knowledge and Culture Exchange Program
The D7080 Environment Committee has identified an exciting new educational initiative for clubs within our district. The EnvironFocus Knowledge and Culture Exchange Program (EKCEP) gives clubs an avenue to improve lives and address needs in local and international communities by teaching students how to implement projects that solve sustainability / environmental problems.

Considerations For Return To In-Person Gatherings
As clubs consider in-person gatherings, including club meetings, social events, or fundraisers, this document is provided to assist with key considerations to ensure the safety of participants at Rotary events in District 7080. First and foremost, public health measures provided by Medical Officers of Health should be your guiding principle. Additionally, many venues (e.g. restaurants, golf clubs, etc.) will establish additional guidelines. Please refer to the linked document for additional guidelines and resources.

Community Makes Tour De Guelph 2021 Most Successful Yet!
$165,000 Raised In Net Proceeds
When COVID-19 hit in the spring of 2020, the organizers of Tour de Guelph had a decision to make.   Should we cancel the event and wait for the pandemic to be over, or find a new way of holding it. Tour de Guelph is a joint community fundraising cycling event organized by the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium, along with the Foundation of the Guelph General Hospital.  The joint organizing committee decided to hold a “virtual” Tour de Guelph 2020, encouraging community members to register, solicit sponsors, and ride physically distanced on a route of their choice any time during a four-week period.

Building Awareness on Human Trafficking
When we hear the words “human trafficking,” we tend to think that this is something that happens only in big cities. Sadly this is not true. In fact, with our proximity to the Ontario 400 highways, it usually means that most of all human trafficking in Canada happens using that route.
