7080 Connects
Welcome to the 2019-20 Rotary year ...

… and what a year it will be! Henry David Thoreau wrote – “The world is just a canvas to our imagination.” What a great way to think about the possibilities to
strengthen and grow Rotary this year!

I liken our organization to a mighty tree. Our core values – SERVICE, FELLOWSHIP, DIVERSITY, INTEGRITY and LEADERSHIP are the roots that support and ground us as we grow. Our Four-Way Test continually nourishes the roots to ensure we grow in strength as we live and practice our values. Our traditional clubs are the sturdy and life-sustaining tree trunks that enable growth of new branches, flowers and fruits which produce seeds that sustain us and help us create new possibilities. And so it is, that we are able to grow and continue to serve our communities far into the future!

This year, our Rotaract Clubs are our partners and stand with us to expand and grow our Rotary
presence. This is our year to not only imagine the possibilities, but to make them a reality!

So grab your paint brushes and let’s create the canvas together!

District 7080 Changeover and Annual Awards Night

On Thursday, June 27th members gathered together at Glencairn Golf Club in Milton to celebrate the achievements of clubs from across the District. We enjoyed the fellowship of Rotarians, Rotaractors and guests with cocktails on the patio, we were blown away by the number of clubs that received recognition and we were inspired by our individual award recipients.

We are very grateful to John Gilvesy for his strong leadership this past year, to the Governor Team for their hard work, and to all those who helped make 2018-19 a very successful year.

Thank you to our members who were able to join us to celebrate this year’s Changeover event.

Congratulations to the club and individuals who received recognition and awards, and a special thank you to our Changeover & Awards Committee for putting together the special evening.
Working Together with Rotaract ...

2019-20 District Rotaract Representative (DRR)

We are happy to announce that Pari Gujar, Rotaract Brampton, has been selected as District Rotaract Representative for 2019-2020.  We would like to thank Robin Scheffler, Rotaract Waterloo, for her leadership in that role this past year.

Partnering

We are excited about working more closely with our D7080 Rotaractors.  Moving forward, our newsletter – "7080 Connects", will contain a Rotaract section that will provide brief monthly updates from our Rotaract partners.  Pari, Jananee and their team are also working on adding Rotaract events to our District website under the “Events’ tab.  Stay tuned for more information.

District Committees

As part of our D7080 strategy to better connect with each other, we are encouraging a Rotaract presence on every district committee.  If you have a passion in any aspect of our district organization, please contact Pari at rotaract7080@gmail.com  who will pass on your interest to the appropriate District Director.

Flamingo Challenge: Are you up to the challenge?

What great ideas do you have to sustain, strengthen, and grow your club? Please send them to our District Assistant, Jananee Savuntharanathan, <jananeesnathan@gmail.com> and we will post them on the District Website.

D7080 Cluster Celebrations, July – October 2019

What a great way to let other clubs and communities know what we do!

Assistant Governors and Club Presidents are busy arranging Cluster Celebrations in lieu of individual Governor visits to each club. Cluster celebrations will be all-club meetings for members and will replace a regular club meeting. The intent is to exchange ideas and celebrate our awesome community and international service projects. It’s a great chance to connect with fellow Rotarians, family members, community members and dignitaries who may also be invited. Sounds like a perfect public relations and membership drive opportunity! Looking forward to seeing you there.
Zone Conference – Niagara Falls, September 19th – 21st, 2019
At our 2019 Zone Conference, our director, Jeffry Cadorette is continuing our theme of “People Coming Together” connecting Rotarians and bringing them from all strata of our Rotary world to build a new future together.

District 7080 Conference and Changeover – Kitchener May 30th, 2020

We heard your feedback and kept it top of mind when planning next year’s District 7080 Conference and changeover event.  This single day, family-friendly, fun event combines our District Conference with our changeover and awards event – two for the price of one!  It will be held at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener on May 30th, 2020.

Rotarians, and Rotaractors will come together to hear Valarie Wafer, our incoming Zone Director kick things off. We’ll have a tasty summer BBQ lunch followed by a fun team building and service project which will definitely show us the impact Rotary service projects can have on our own communities. We’ll celebrate our achievements and finally, to round out the afternoon, we’ll have some drinks and munchies to tie you over until you get home after a full day!

You won't want to miss this one-of-a-kind conference. It's different, it's service-focused and it's what you asked for! So, mark your calendars now for May 30th and stay tuned for more details!
