Last month, we heard how attending a first Rotary International Convention can change the way a Rotarian sees the organization. But what makes someone return not just once, but five times?
This month, we hear from a District 7080 Rotarian whose Convention experiences have brought new ideas, a deeper understanding of Rotary, lasting friendships, and some pretty memorable vacations along the way.

Five Conventions, One Memorable Rotary Journey
Here’s how one District 7080 Rotarian describes his experience:
“I have attended 5 RI conventions over the years and have enjoyed and benefited greatly from the experience. At each event, there was significant representation from our cluster and District. With outstanding keynote speakers, including the RI Leadership and staff, I came away with an enhanced understanding of the extent and depth of our organization. The plenary sessions provided updated and creative ideas while the breakouts provided an opportunity to learn much about the work done by Rotarians around the world. The breakout sessions provided an opportunity to interact with experts doing good in the world and serving through Rotary’s 7 areas of focus. I have learned a lot through the Health Care Professionals Action Group as well as sessions on the Environment and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. On looking back, attending RI Conventions has been a highlight of my Rotary journey.
The opportunity to explore a new City and Country made this a vacation that we would not likely have experienced. For each convention, Louise and I booked several days before and after the official event and found unique and exciting things to enjoy. Meeting Rotarians from far and wide provided an opportunity to share knowledge and to develop some lasting friendships".
